Year-End Blog Post

I think that this year has probably been the most fun, most entertaining and definetly my most improved year ever. I started off in december barely even being able to run a few minutes without stopping. I would start to feel a little tired and then I would completely stop and walk the rest of the way. I always thought that my body could go no longer. I always wondered how those long distance runners could run such a long way without stopping. Then I learnt about pacing. By keeping the same pace the whole time, you are able to run a really long time without stopping. In the last 30 minute run, I ran 30 minutes without stopping. Each of my laps were around 5 minutes each.

In the beginning of the year I started off thinking that my body could only go to a certain point and I would need to stop but I learnt that my body can do a lot more than what I expect. My heart rate can go all the way to 205 beats per minute after a workout. This made me more determined to work towards keeping a good pace and working my hardest until I'm about to puke. My first beeptest score was 6,2 but my highest beep test score was 8,5. I also learnt how to measure my heart rate after a workout.

I think I've also improved in perticipation. I always try my hardest at any sport and I always try to give suggestions on how to make a game or activity better. I've really tried to engage myself in all activities. Some activities led me to getting poison all over my arm.  I've learnt leadership skills that have helped me encourage my friends and other people in the class to work hard and with effort. I've really loved gym and all the people in our class are really nice and helpful which I think has definetly helped me improve my motivation for fitness.

Other fitness activities that I like are yoga, the partner a partner b, relays (even though it was so exhausting and I felt like fainting), and the community run. I actually really enjoy fitness. It gets me pumped and after every fitness activity, I feel good about what I've done and what I've achieved. It makes me want to go even further and improve what I did before. I now work out outside of school. I run and do yoga with my mom which gives us bonding time as well. I also like playing soccer and basketball with my little brother and my dad. One of my favourite things to do is go mountain biking with my dad. It gets me pumped.

Something that I think has helped me a lot is my change in nutrition. I now eat more vegetables and fruits and now I eat healthier carbs and calories that are good for my body, I still spoil myself here and there but it has definetly decreased from before. I love eating tacos with lots of vegetables or California rolls.

Poison on my arm after playing hide and seek.

Beep Test

This week in fitness we did the beep test, unfortunetly I was sooo sick. I felt like puking both before and after but I still wanted to do the beep test to prove myself that I wasn't really feeling that bad. I ran a 7 but I know I could have done better. I was feeling pretty dizzy and sick afterwards. I checked my pulse after running and it was at 195 b/min. My highest on the beep test has been 8 ,5 but I still tried my best even though I was sick. I'm still pretty proud of myself for even doing it.   I also learnt how to take my pulse. First you lover your pulse then use a clock to figure out how many brats there are in a minute. Then 2 mins later do the same thing to figure out your recovery and how fast it takes your body to recover.

30 minute run

Last week we did the 30 minute run and we learned about pacing ourselfs and how it can benefit us in the long run. I decided to do a lap every 5 minutes and keep all my laps 10-15 seconds within eachother. At first I thought that I wouldn't be able to do this and run the whole 30 minutes but I ended up running the whole entire time no stop. I was really proud of myself and I felt great. I didn't even get that tired. I learnt that if you keep the same pace the whole time, you can run nonstop. Your body adapts to the pace and it feels quite comfortable and easy to achieve. I ran alongside my friend, Lyba, who kept cheering me on to keep going and so did I. I told her that it was almost over and that we only had a few minutes to go.

Mid Term #3

So far this year, I think that I've improved greatly in Gym Class. At the beginning of e year, I didn't really care too much about my fitness and health. I think that I've been really positive in class and I've helped my friends get motivated in class and have fun.  I feel like I've really improved my fitness this year. I push myself to keep going when I feel that my body can go no more. Even though I try my hardest in most activities, sometimes I don't feel doing exercise like that much because of stress from school or not getting enough sleep but I'm going to try to improve my sleep and diet. For those reasons, I think that I deserve an A. (:

Interm Report:Digital Evidence

So far this year, I think that my fitness level has really improved. The past three classes I've been trying my hardest to improve my fitness level.

On fitness tuesday last week, we did the 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off, A & B partner activity. I really enjoy that particular fitness activity because I get to work really really hard for 30 seconds, catch my breath and go back in it. Most of the time I start off strong at it but right when the last 5 minutes roll bye, my body is aching and I cant even breathe but since I'm still determined to finish, I keep going until my body can't move an inch. I finish slow and out of breath but it's been my best fitness day yet.

On Saturday, I played a very long and exhausting game of basketball with my cousins. It's a tradition. All of our cousins and uncles and aunts get together to play basketball once in a while. We are divided into equal teams. Some have the really strong players but they have they the youngest players too. The best four teams would have a mini tournament and the top team would win a prize. My team came in second place. We had some of the strong players but we had some of the you gets too. At the end of the day, I was exhausted and my legs were killing me. I couldn't even move. Even if I got breaks in between games, I was always tired. I was proud of how long I would be able to stay on the floor playing without stopping which was about 25 mins.

I've learnt that my worst problem when doing a fitness activity is end off the activity strong and finish until my body can't move and I'm about to throw up. Usually when I know that I have about 10 seconds left, I will just stop just because I'm tired and think that 10 seconds won't make a difference. I really want to improve on going hard at in all the way until the end and push my body to the max.

Here's a picture of me after fitness Friday:

Gym is probably one of my favorite classes. I'm really glad I have Gym all year long. I really enjoy playing games and sports in the school with my friends. I really enjoy Choice days because I like how there's options for you to choose from instead of being forced to play a sport or do a certain activity. You can really do what you want and enjoy it. I actually wouldn't change anything about it. Its really fun as it is already. I really like to get involved in the activity as long as I enjoy playing it in the first place. For example- volleyball, I really like playing volleyball so when we do play it I get involved and try my hardest at it. I think that I'm really good at pumping people up and helping them get through the activities like fitness. I really try hard to help my friends keep going and to keep them from stopping and resting as much as possible just because they say that they were tired. I've been working towards getting more involved in ALL activities like capture the flag, dodge ball. My goals for the rest of the year is to improve my fitness level and go above and beyond what I'm doing now in fitness. I am really friendly with my classmates and I really like to enjoy the activity and get the most out of it. I'm really proud of how I've gotten involved and comfortable in the class.
So.. I think my overall effort represents a B.    :)
